DEMONSTRATION
PICKETING AGAINST UNFAIR LABOR ACTIONS
by EWU Chancellor Khan and Provost Jain.
Support our Protest Demonstration on Tuesday, July 13th
11AM-1PM @ 816 S. Michigan Avenue, in front of the EWU main entrance

The adjunct faculty is working to get the National Education Association/Illinois Education Association (NEA/IEA) chapter union representation at East-West University.

Immediately after filing a petition for a NEA/IEA union representation election on May 26, 2010, the entire adjunct faculty received a letter dated May 25, 2010 from the Chancellor stating that ALL department chairs, full-time faculty and adjunct faculty should no longer consider themselves employed by EWU effective Summer 2010 and Fall Quarter 2010 until after a one on one “interview” with the chancellor before rehire is considered.

To this day, ONLY adjunct faculty contracts have been abrogated; only adjunct faculty have had their class assignments taken away ~ with no valid explanation. The actions taken by Chancellor Khan and Provost Jain are unacceptable and discriminatory in application. This anti-union tactic has already received national attention and is sure to receive more.
