#adjunct/ion series & other #PFNetwork collections + to #NAWD2 or not

…that's the short version for readers in a hurry. There's more but that hits the main points. I bolded them for your skimming convenience.

Tom Cunniff's Ultimate Social Media Diagram, 2008
For #adjunction series and other (but not all) "informationist" projects, I collect adjunct links that I bundle as an #adjunction series. Each bundle has a web page with a permalink. Here's the most recent link bundle page in the series: #adjunction Jan2016 #4, 17 links

Informationist projects: throughout 2015 I've been referring to this blog and the associated network as an independent information network. That is my focus...among other intentions.

#MLKDay2016 Digital #SocialJustice Memorial

…the day online, in memorable social media memes, the dominant genre, articles, blog posts and videos. Tomorrow, let's all not go back to business as usual. Pay extra attention to the quotes and articles that make you uncomfortable or go against the grain of your personal ideology or world view. As Paul Thomas writes,
One commitment is to resist the whitewashing of Martin Luther King Jr. as a passive radical. So here, I offer some readings, varied and important, but pathways to honoring the radical MLK and to resisting the lingering dream deferred.
This meme is a favorite because it resonates personally and on many levels:

…and many thoughtful articles and blog posts

#mla16 it's that time of year again

… just a short, preliminary post with suggestions for following from afar, mostly to get one out before the academic boycott sessions #s119 ("Boycotting Israeli Academic Institutions") and #s148 ("The Academic Boycott: Taking Sides") start.

Here's an online reading list to fill in any academic boycott informarion gaps you may have. If you think academia, the MLA and professional associations should be actively support social justice and be involved in movements, then you should follow and speak up in this discussion.

October Days of Action—from teachers to #adjunct faculty #CEW2015

…and points/days between. Earlier this month, when I started getting ready for CEW and developing a CEW Archives project, I noticed there seemed to a lot of such days this month. So I made a list ~ with links, of course. That's what I do. What does the list below seeing all those social, environmental and economic justice movements and days of actions side by side, tell us?

From World Teachers Day to Campus Equity Week (leaving Keith's Equality question aside for now) October is loaded with social justice days for speaking out. However important raising public and internal group awareness is, we damn well better do more than show up to table, hang banners, pass out flyers and wear buttons for a few days out of the year.

#HumanRights Day, Dec 10, 2014—#Rights365

I missed the Thunderclap (small print on the UN High Commission page) and only just now noticed the Storify. In Chicago, +lydsnow got a jump on everybody with an +Amnesty International Write for Rights (#adjunctrights are #humanrights) campaign on the NEIU campus ~ with a Facebook Event page here and blogged here. There are Vines and more than one Storify, but as far as I know, this was the only adjunct action for Human Rights Day 2014 but maybe someone will check in and add more. It's never too late to read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights again ~ good sections on labor and education. Or right letter, sign petitions, speak out.

The other take away is in the tag: #Rights365 = every day is a human rights day. Missed today? You've got 364 days to get cracking. Our work is cut out for us with Ayotzinapa, Ferguson, child refugees seeking asylum and more on the table and in the streets while public education, social justice and even the concept of a public good is under assault ~ along with other human rights. Those include freedom of speech (second sentence of Preamble, check it out) and the right to organize (Article 23).
