Of particular relevance to adjunct issues in HCW2010
Please note in the extensive conference schedule below presentations by New Faculty Majority's own Maria Maisto at 8-9 AM on Saturday, June 5, who will speak directly to the conditions of contingency, and later that day (at 10:45 AM) Steve Street, who'll speak on the two-tiered faculty system as a microcosm of class dynamics. Also a panel on The Pedagogy of Class on Friday might be of particular interest to us adjuncts. So if you're near Stony Brook in early summer, please stop on by and contribute your $.02.

Also, if you're at the CEA Conference in San Antonio March 25-27, a Thursday 9:30 a.m. presentation will cover similar issues, from the perspective of "voice." It's entitled "The Add-On Voice: Adjuncts in Academia." Your .02 are again most welcome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve & Raye for adding information. Tracking and posting information about conferences relevant to academic. and especially contingent or NTT, labor. Not everyone can make it to conferences. Will proceedings from Stony Brook and San Antonio be readily available to the interested public?
ReplyDelete@Steve ~ the preceding post was just for openers, more detail to follow. Can you give me more detail about your panel, perhaps recommend advance reading that to get the most out of it?
@Raye ~ CEA is just around the corner, this month, so I'd like to blog more about. I'm wondering what other conferences there might be.
Collect enough 2¢ and we may even get a raise someday.
Greetings,
ReplyDeletePlease consider filling out this survey about contingent faculty

All responses are confidential, and even if you offer your name, I
will not use it in my ultimate paper.
Thank you in advance, and feel free to send this out there widely.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. I'll give the nudge a post of its own...
