Did you know that there are only 500 days left to achieve the Millennium Development Goals? Most of the targets will not be reached, among them the second goal: universal primary education for all. The advocacy and promotion of quality education for all is at the heart of EI's international action. The importance of quality education is also being highlighted by people outside the policy arena, such as actress Dame Helen Mirren, who paid tribute to her English teacher during her acceptance speech of a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award. "My journey to this place, right here, right now, began with a great teacher," she said.
